Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing this letter to you firstly to thank you for all your support and understanding at such an extraordinary time in our lives. I would never have thought in my time as a Head teacher, I would be putting in plans to keep my staff and children safe from a disease that was having such a huge impact on our community and our world.
At Lessness Heath we very much pride ourselves on the way we uphold all of our values as a school. This week, I have been overwhelmed with the way my staff, the children and our parents have pulled together to ensure we continue to provide the support for all members of our school community. I have witnessed amazing acts of kindness and support across the whole community.
My staff are amazing and have gone above and beyond in looking after your children; continuing to provide an education for them and ensuring the children continue to feel safe in these unpredictable circumstances. Over the closure period, they will continue to support the education of your children and most importantly, continue to keep a line of communication open with them.
This week, the children have expressed the thing they are most worried about is not seeing their friends. Today in school, we have spoken to them about the importance of staying connected and the safe ways we can do this. We really value the importance of communication and connectivity and we hope to stay connected to you as much as we can. Teachers will be communicating with you via email and sending work home every day, we will send out a weekly newsletter with updates and a weekly parent newsletter to support you whilst at home with your children.
Whilst at home with your children, it is important that you try to provide a structure for them. Teachers will be providing suggested timetables for the day which will support the structure children enjoy. Make sure you build in times for time outside, exercise and down time enjoying activities like playing games and being creative – a balance and variety is the key.
I would like to take this opportunity to say an enormous thank you to all of my staff who have gone above and beyond the call of duty this week and who will continue to do so over the time we are closed. I look forward to staying connected with you and would like to remind you, as a school, we are still here for you at this time.
