Relationships and Sex Education

Parental Information Gathering

This information gathering period begins on Monday 18th January 2021 and will close on Monday 1st Feb 2021 at 9am

As a part of your child’s educational experience at Lessness Heath Primary School, we aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education that gives children and young people the knowledge, under-standing, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives, both now and in the future

As you may already be aware, the Department for Education has announced changes to relationships and sex education following nationwide consultation. These changes came into effect from September 2020 and all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements by the start of the Summer term this year.  The statutory guidance can be found at:

This means that we have been reviewing our RSE (Relationship and Sex Education) curriculum and policy so we can be sure our RSE provision is appropriate for our pupils based on their:

  • Age
  • Physical and emotional maturity
  • Religious and cultural backgrounds
  • Special educational needs and disabilities

At Lessness Heath, we believe it is vital for us to gather parents views prior to any teaching taking place in the Summer Term. Please feel free to read over the draft documents below, outlining the potential changes to our curriculum and the terminology we will be using with the children. Any feedback you would like to give would be most welcome. Please do this by completing the questionnaire provided – simply click on the link below.

We will aim to respond to parental feedback by the end of the Spring 1 term.
